Hi grads,
This is a reminder to save the date for the 'Publishing Demystified' workshop & social next Tuesday, November 16th starting at 3:30pm in SSB 8114, hosted by the Biology Grad Caucus.
At this session, we'll have the chance to interact with 5 young academics (all of whom have been or are currently affiliated with SFU Biology) as they share their experiences and tips for successfully writing and publishing academic papers.
The event will consist of six 15 min presentations by each of our speakers on the following topics:
1. The anatomy of a published paper
2. Authorship guidelines and tips for dealing with coauthors
3. Perspectives on where to start writing and editing strategies
4. Software options and tips for citation, graphics and statistics
5. Literature searches, citation and plagiarism
6. Submitting your paper and writing great cover letters
After the talks we'll have time for a panel Q & A with our speakers to address your burning questions about publishing. Beverages and snacks will be served throughout and there will be a dinner social afterward... Come on out for some free food and great interaction!
Please email me if you have any questions. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
Stephanie
